Mount Maunganui

The Andersons, Andersons, Dunlops and Ritchies embarked on a family vacation to the Mount. Friends of Tessa's had an amazing bach that was literally a side street off Marine Parade (the street along the beach line)and only 2 houses down so we could see the beach from the front deck and head over for a quick swim any time of the day without having to lug over masses of stuff for the kids. It was an amazing holiday together and the cousins all got on like a house on fire. We stayed for 6 days and we went to the park, swam in the sea, flew kites, ate ice creams, rode bikes, had water fights, ate and drank and watched movies .... altogether. Luke got to play with his new remote control ferrari that Nonna, PJ and Uncle Skotti got for him on the closed roads doing burnouts and racing it up and down to the delight of a couple of houses of onlookers. We were there over New Years Eve which was hillarious and fun. Because we were right on the beach we were in the thick of the action. Our street was barricaded off so that no cars only foot traffic could pass through and it sure did. There was a grandstand built right beside our street which had bands playing, there were fair rides and lots and lots of teenagers stumbling around and falling down! Before it got too late we took the kids and headed to the beach so that we could watch some of the bands and the kids played on the sand and danced a little. Once the little ones had hit the sack, the big ones hit the bottles and then danced their way to the sand too. Its hard to explain the amount of people that were there but the distance between the boardwalk and the sea was jammed packed full of people and there were people up and down Marine Parade, it was like being at a concert except the concert was tripled in size. My pictures don't do it justice. There were fun and games when Luke and Cameron and Uncle Hame were putting the tennis ball in strange spots and the kids struggling to get it out, oh how small things can amuse small minds for so long!!We love being on holiday and we love being with these people!
