So on Saturday it was the TransRockies Race 2009. The Trans Rockies is an epic mountain bike race through the heart of the wild and rugged canadian rocky mountains. Total distance for the week typically ranges from 525–600 kilometres with elevation gain between 12,000 and 17,000 vertical metres. The longest stages may be as long as 110–125 km with the shortest as brief as 40 km, usually on the first or last day. It starts in Panorama and ends in Fernie. This is the 2nd year that its finished in Fernie and the town holds a big street party and before the riders cross the finish line there is a kids rally where they suit up, ride around the block stopping along the way at a decorating tent, the fire station, food and water stop at overwaitea supermarket and on to the finish line at the Arts Station! Spook had a ball, loved it and loved getting his face painted with a train the most!! We forgot to take the camera to the rally so could only take photo's once we got home. Flossie, well she liked the apple juice and fruit bar and then running around at the finish line!
Because I knew it was going to be such a busy weekend, with the rally, me painting at the daycare and then zipping to Calgary for the night on saturday arvo, i decided to do some baking and here's what I made! Breakfast Bars, Blueberry Banana Muffins & Lasagne.
